Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about renting and listing on FleetLinkr.

Is FleetLinkr free?+
Yes. Browsing and listing are free during our launch period. We do not charge transaction fees, take a percentage of your rental, or require a credit card to sign up. Any rental payments are handled directly between the owner and the renter.
Does FleetLinkr collect payments?+
No. FleetLinkr does not process payments, hold deposits, or act as an escrow. Once a booking is accepted, the owner and renter arrange payment, deposits, and rental terms directly. We recommend using traceable payment methods and always getting a receipt.
What does "Plate matched to NYC TLC record" mean?+
When you see this badge on a vehicle listing, we have checked the submitted TLC plate number against the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission’s public “For-Hire Vehicles (FHV) — Active” dataset at the time of listing. This confirms the plate existed in that public dataset on that date. It does not confirm ownership, insurance, inspection status, roadworthiness, or that the listing user is authorized to rent the vehicle. NYC’s dataset is updated daily. Verify with NYC Open Data.
Is insurance included with the rental?+
Insurance is arranged directly between the owner and the renter. FleetLinkr does not provide insurance and does not verify insurance coverage. Always confirm the vehicle’s insurance status in writing before accepting a rental. If you plan to use the vehicle for rideshare (Uber/Lyft), confirm that the policy covers commercial use — a personal policy typically does not.
Who prepares the rental agreement?+
The owner and renter. FleetLinkr is a listing platform and is not a party to any rental agreement. We strongly recommend signing a written agreement that covers the rental dates, price, deposit, mileage limit, insurance, maintenance responsibilities, and pickup and return terms.
How are deposits handled?+
Deposits are negotiated directly between the owner and the renter. FleetLinkr never holds deposits. Get a written receipt for any deposit paid, and clarify in advance what conditions would cause the deposit to be partially or fully withheld.
How do cancellations work?+
Cancellation terms are agreed between the owner and the renter. We recommend putting cancellation rules in writing before the rental begins. Requests can be cancelled directly from your dashboard before they are accepted. Once a booking is accepted, both parties should communicate to arrange any change.
How do I report fraud or a suspicious listing?+
Email support@fleetlinkr.com with the listing URL and a brief description. Include screenshots if possible. We review every report and may remove listings or suspend accounts. For suspected criminal activity, contact the NYPD or the NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission directly. See our Rent Safely guide for more.
How do I delete my account?+
Email privacy@fleetlinkr.com from the address associated with your account. We will confirm receipt and process the deletion within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.
Do I need a TLC license to rent a TLC vehicle?+
Yes. If you rent a TLC-plated vehicle, you must hold a valid TLC For-Hire Vehicle (FHV) driver license and be in good standing. You can verify your license number at NYC Open Data. Vehicles without a TLC plate may be rented for personal or other permitted use.
How do I verify my driver license on FleetLinkr?+
Go to Settings and enter your FHV driver license number in the TLC Driver License section. We check it against NYC’s active driver dataset. If it matches, a verified badge appears on your public profile.
